Pumpkin Weigh-Off

Over 100 Artisan and Food Vendors

Volunteers are the backbone of Operation Pumpkin. Your enthusiasm, commitment and hard work enable the festival to meet its mission and provide the best experience possible for our patrons and community.  As a volunteer you become a member of the Pumpkin team!  Below are the perks and expectations of all members of the Pumpkin Team!

SIGNING UP TO VOLUNTEER

By signing up for a shift you agree to the expectations (and perks) on this page.

PERKS:

  • Two free drink tickets that can be used for beer or non-alcoholic beverages after shift is completed.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be on time!  Arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to check in at the information tent. If you are going to be late for your shift or need to cancel for any reason, please call/text the Volunteer Coordinator before the start of your shift.  No-shows and tardiness impact everyone so please do your best to keep us informed.
  • Dress appropriately for the job you will be doing.  Wearing comfortable closed-toe shoes and clothing layers is recommended.  You may be standing and/or walking for lengthy times and the weather in October is always unpredictable.
  • Be alert and actively engaged in your task while you are working
  • Be courteous and respectful. If you encounter a situation with a difficult patron, please refer to an Operation Pumpkin staff member immediately.
  • No drinking or smoking while volunteering.
  • Drink tickets are not to be exchanged with other vendors for food or other products.
  • Do not use volunteer time as a platform to promote personal or professional agenda.
  • Remain at your post until the end of your shift.  If you must leave prior to the end of your shift, please notify the staff member responsible for that area or the Volunteer Coordinator.

DESCRIPTION OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Information/Merchandise Tent

For those who may love to talk and interact with others, the Information Tent is a great place to be.  Volunteers in this area will be responsible for selling merchandise, pop and water.  You may also need to assign in signing in fellow volunteers, answer questions regarding Operation Pumpkins schedule of events, and directions to different festival areas.

Vendor Set-up

The vendor set-up volunteers assist our fabulous vendors load in on Friday morning.  Everything from placing or removing tables and chairs to helping with quick unloading from vehicles.  These volunteers should be in good physical condition and able to lift 10 - 20 pounds.

Festival Set-up/Teardown

The set-up/teardown volunteers are needed Friday morning and Sunday afternoon to assist with everything from placing tents, tables, chairs, placing signage, and decorating different festival areas.  These volunteers should be in good physical condition and able to lift 10 - 20 pounds.

Kids Zone

Volunteers who are a child at heart or just love children are perfect in the Kids Zone. We are looking for volunteers to help staff different activities we have available in this area.  You will be required to ensure we have a safe number of children on/in each activity at all times.

Beer/Wine Booths (21 and up ONLY)

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old in order to pour alcoholic beverages by State Law. Volunteers are required to communicate with patrons and serve beer/wine throughout the event.  Volunteers will be responsible for making sure anyone drinking at the event is wearing a wristband showing they are of age to drink alcohol.  If a patron does not have a wristband and is unable to show ID we cannot serve them no matter how “old” they look.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Clean-up is a major part that ensures our festival will be responsible and respected for coming years.  The cleanup volunteers will assist with everything from street cleanup, pulling trash, assisting with set-up and teardown needs.

Entertainment Assistants

This is for any volunteers who love music and making connections! You will be helping ensure the bands and the stage have what they need to put on a great show. This could include running food for the bands, helping them load and unload, helping get stuff on and off stage, and more. Volunteers must be able to lift 10 - 20 lbs and be willing to man the tents located behind the entertainment stages.
